GRAEME'S DAD Hello, my name is Stephen.I am married with two children.Graeme (7) and Lisa (6), and we reside in Edinburgh,Scotland. I currently work for Edinburgh University.I started my interest in emergency vehicles ehen i realised how much Graeme liked them.I still have an interest in millitaria and scale model making, though not so much any more as i want to concentrate on ev's. As Graeme gets older i plan to take him further afield to see other brigades and forces, mind you he is very happy just to see them in Edinburgh.Usualy we have competitions to see who can see the most ev's in one day. |

Why we do it As much as we enjoy seeing the vehicles and taking pictures my aim is also to educate the kids.By letting them see what happens at an rta or fire, and let them understand it for themselves they'll grow up and learn not to panic, but react positively to whats going on around them. For years now they've both known how to dial 999 and what to say. Thanks to the efforts of the crews that have spoke to him,Graeme still wo'nt go near a lighter or box of matches. He is growing up with a very healthy respect for the Police and Fire Brigade.(That can only be a good thing as afar as i am concerned). When we go to the stns we usualy just stand outside. if there are no vehicles there then we wait for a while or go somewhere. We never intrude on the personnel unless they invite us in, and even then we do'nt stay for long.you have to remember that these guys are doing a job, even if they are in a station.there have been tomes though when they have spent a lot of time with graeme showing him around the appliances and engine bays, or pulling out a hose to let him spray down the car park.I suppose that they see it as community education as well. My Heartfelt thanks go out to you all. Visited Fire Stations Below is a list of the stations that we have visited.
